Dear Mr Reacham,
Re: Farm operations manager position, REF: 35GG
I am writing to apply for the position of farm operations manager, as advertised recently on SEEK.com.au.
I am a highly organised, energetic and motivated individual with solid experience in farm management. I am currently employed by The Good Oil, a small boutique olive producer.
In my present role, I am responsible for organising all activities associated with crop production (including machinery operation, repairs and maintenance), overseeing weed and pest control measures, stock control and budgeting, liaising with and supervising contractors, working with owners and agronomists to achieve production targets, and developing efficient systems in areas such as work planning and staff management.
A large part of my present role has been to oversee and manage crop production, as well as packing shed operations, QA and OH&S. To this end I have performed hazard identification and risk management assessments in a factory environment.
I am tertiary qualified, with a Bachelor of Agriculture. I have solid computer skills, notably in Word, Excel and Outlook. I also have my forklift and MC licences, tractor ticket, chemical handler’s certificate, first aid certificate and bush firefighter’s certificate.
You will find me to be a down-to-earth and cool-headed person, with excellent communication skills that I employ in my dealings with workers, owners, contractors and suppliers. I am very much a team player who also enjoys independent work. In addition, I have a passion for olive-growing and a strong interest in sustainable agriculture and techniques that will sustain the long-term health of crops and soil.
I believe that I would be a skilled and enthusiastic addition to the team at The Olive Company, and that this is a role in which I could apply and deepen my farm management experience. I would also welcome the added challenge of working for a larger operation and broadening my responsibilities at The Olive Company.
My resume is attached and I look forward to being able to discuss the position with you further.
Kind regards
