Dear Ms Brown
Re: Junior Digital Media Producer position
I wish to apply for the position of Junior Digital Media Producer, as advertised recently on the Zoo Media website.
I am passionate about digital media and have geared my tertiary education, internships and recent work experience towards a career in this exciting and rapidly growing industry.
I completed a Bachelor of Multimedia at the University of Jonestown in 2008 and have since been working as a part-time production assistant at the web and content development company Big Bang Media.
My key responsibilities include formatting and proofreading website content before publication, assisting with web design, monitoring website traffic and creating analytical reports, creating and maintaining publishing schedules, and sourcing and cropping photos and other graphical content. I also update text and images on client websites using a proprietary content management system (CMS). All of these duties are performed in a high-volume environment where accuracy, organisation and prioritisation are essential.
In addition, I have completed two internships with organisations at the forefront of digital media – The Jonestown Courier and Digital Solutions. Each full-time work placement lasted four weeks, giving me the opportunity to not only develop skills in a range of areas, including proofreading, HTML coding and video editing, but also to learn first-hand the importance of teamwork in a fast-paced environment.
In my work and internships, I have used various programs in the Adobe Creative Suite and have taught myself Dreamweaver 8 in order to build a website to showcase my video work and the articles I have written for the online magazine DigiFuture (www.digifuture.com). Building my own website (www.mydigitalfuture.com.au) enabled me to further develop my web development and design skills, and was something I really enjoyed.
I am very much a people person and would like to expand on my client liaison and communication roles. I enjoy interacting with customers in my part-time job at Black Vinyl Records and relished the challenge of coordinating and organising three student film festivals when I was Secretary of the University of Jonestown Film Society. I am also very involved in social media and am interested in exploring the potential of social networking for business.
I am hard-working, flexible and thrive in a fast-paced environment. I would very much like to take the next step in my career with a dynamic and innovative company like Zoo Media. I have followed your company for some time and have been very impressed with the originality of your designs and execution, and I couldn’t think of a more exciting company in which to work.
My resume is attached and I look forward to being able to discuss the position with you further.
Regards,
