Resident Medical Officers
Royal Hospital welcomes applications from medical interns who have just completed their PGY1 intern year. The PGY2 program at Royal Hospital term is divided into five terms. Terms available include medical oncology, cardiology, psychiatry, paediatrics, haematology, intensive care, emergency, neurosurgery, vascular surgery, ophthalmology, otolaryngology, urology, nights and relief.
Successful applicants have the opportunity to indicate their preferences for terms in Medicine, Surgery and Acute Care. Terms are allocated according to preferences as well as the requirements of both vocational training and the Institute of Medical Education and Training.
All residents are required to undertake at least one term on secondment which could be at a rural hospital. Secondment hospitals include South Kronston, Willara, Mark Park and the Silverland Children's Hospital.
JMOs receive ongoing teaching throughout their training. All JMOs are encouraged to attend two hours of dedicated training on Friday afternoon.
