How Much Will It Cost?

The 2022 Indicative Domestic Tuition Fee is $18,120.

The total indicative cost of completing your degree depends on the elective courses you choose to complete and any recognition of prior learning before the commencement of your studies. Fees are subject to annual review by the University and may increase annually, with the new fees effective from the start of each calendar year. Indicative fees are a guide for comparison only based on current conditions and available data. You should not rely on indicative fees.

You may be eligible to receive FEE-HELP for this course!

This course can be paid for through the FEE-HELP government loan scheme. If you are an Australian citizen or hold a permanent humanitarian visa, you may not need to pay upfront.

Instead, the Australian government will pay your course fees directly to the provider on your behalf. You’ll begin repaying your loan through the tax system once you start earning more than the minimum threshold of $54,435 (2024-25 financial year).

Course Rundown

The online Graduate Certificate in Data Science at UNSW covers the foundational skills of data science as applied in computer science, economics and mathematics. It also includes programming, statistics and data systems. The program provides you with the skills that employers demand in a fast-tracked model, plus gives you a pathway to study the Graduate Diploma in Data Science and Master of Data Science. Courses are delivered online in seven-week intensive blocks, which means you could graduate with a Graduate Certificate in as little as 8 months.

Eligibility

To do this course, you’ll need:

A recognised bachelor’s degree (or equivalent qualification) in Data Science or cognate discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics); OR
A recognised bachelor’s degree (or equivalent qualification) in a non-cognate discipline AND have sufficient Data Science background as indicated by an average of 65 or above across three Level III courses in Mathematics and/or Statistics and/or Computer Science and/or Econometrics; OR
To have completed a degree in a non-cognate discipline AND have sufficient Data Science background as indicated by at least two years of experience in a data science or data analytics role; AND
To be proficient in the English language.
