Kimberley has always loved beauty and more importantly amazing skincare, when she realised at a young age that she could turn her passion into a career she threw herself into the deep end!

With over 10 years of industry experience, there has never been a dull moment, when asked her favourite part of becoming a beauty and skincare expert she replied: “ it forever challenges me and pushes me to do better.

What is your current role and what does it involve?

I am the owner of an Ella Baché salon in West Lindfield. I’m involved in all salon operations, business management and am an Ella Baché qualified skincare therapist.

What did you study to get into the field of beauty therapy?

I studied at Ella Baché College of Skin and Beauty Therapy in 2008, this allowed me to learn a broad range of beauty treatments and services.

Tell us about your career journey

Whilst studying at Ella Baché College I worked as a salon assistant, spending time learning the ins and outs of the beauty industry. Once qualified I went on to work at Ella Baché West Lindfield where I was soon promoted to a Senior Beauty Therapist and nominated as State Therapist of the Year.
Ready for a change, I went on to become the counter manager at Ella Baché David Jones. From 2015 onwards I worked at Ella Baché HQ as a Customer Care Specialist and casually as a therapist across the network. Working at HQ allowed me to gain a better understanding of the business operations within the network which has led me to become a salon owner. I have now been a part of the Ella Baché network for 10 years!

What did you want to be when you were younger?

I always had a passion in beauty and make-up and as soon as I enrolled in the College I knew I had made the right decision, being able to turn your hobby into a career is the best feeling.

What was your first job and what do you think it taught you?

On Saturdays, I would work as an assistant at my local beauty salon. Here is where I truly realised that I wanted to become a beauty therapist.

Name a career highlight

Opening up my own salon!

What inspired you to take a risk and open your own salon, and what steps did you have to take to make this happen?

I always loved the buzz of working in the salon, after watching, learning and growing within the franchise network it seemed only natural to take the next step and challenge myself.

What’s the most important career tip someone has given you?

You have the ability to change someone’s perspective on themselves through the art of beauty, don’t take that for granted. Work hard and always remember your clients’ names!

What career advice do you wish someone had given you when you finished high school?

Find a passion and turn it into a career, be willing to work hard and the rest will come.

What qualities and skills should people have if they want to become a beauty therapist?

Having great people skills is very important as it’s all about building up great relationships with your clients.

What’s next for you?

Growing Ella Baché West Lindfield, who knows I may even open up another salon!
